Last Friday marked 10 weeks postpartum. First of all, how on EARTH has it already been ten whole weeks that Dane has been here?!? Second up, bouncing back after baby has not been all roses and cheer. Let’s get one thing straight: I cannot claim to be an athlete, nor have I ever loved exercise…I do it out of necessity and the fact that I love pasta, wine and candy SO much. After D was born, Casey and I walked with him around our neighborhood almost daily, sometimes at snail-pace, but it was better than nothing! By about 4 weeks postpartum, I was DYING to be back in my pre-baby jeans. Also, newsflash: maternity jeans are not really comfy after being stretched to the limits at 40 weeks. Once my OB gave me the go-ahead at 6 weeks, I took advantage of the zero restrictions and starting back on one of my favorite Beachbody workouts: Turbofire. This girl loves her some Chalene Johnson! There are lots of choices of workouts – from quick 20 minute HIIT drills to full on 60 minute kickboxing craziness. Get it here – you won’t regret it. I mix this in with regular walks (and some light jogging when I’m feeling crazy), and lots and lots of stretching.
I have about 20 lbs and SO far to go before I’m back to where I’m comfortable, and I need to be more patient with myself but I’m proud of where I’ve come in these 10 weeks. Special thanks to my hubby for being so supportive and understanding that exercise and health need to be a priority for me right now – even when all we want to do is sit on patios and drink beer. 😉
