One of my absolute favorite things to make is homemade guac – perfect for patio weather, boating, Mexican night and basically any time because duh, guac is delicious.
What You Need
- 3 ripe avocados
- 2 roma tomatoes
- 1 small yellow onion
- 1 jalapeno
- a handful of cilantro
- 1 tbsp garlic (approximately)
- juice of one lime (or to taste)
- salt + pepper to taste
Dice onion, tomato, garlic, jalapeno and cilantro, mash avocados into a large mixing bowl. Add salt, pepper and lime juice and stir until your preferred consistency. I like to leave a couple of chunks, for optimal dipping. If you’re not into spice – you can remove the seeds and ribs of the jalapeno or just use half. I love a little kick so we keep it all in there, and sometimes even add a dash or two of Tabasco to really heat things up. I also go heavy on the lime and salt – I find that it really brings out the best in the other ingredients, and it’s freaking delicious. Grab some chips and fresh veggies and enjoy, you won’t regret it!
Love this recipe, similar to mine except the addition of garlic…a great twist! I usually think of garlic for Italian not Mexican…. so very creative! Also a tip is to put the avaocado nuts back in the finished guac to prevent it from turning brown .
