Yesterday Dane turned 6 months old, which ended up being harder than I thought it would be. I think it was more “half a year” than 6 months that really hit me. This past month, by far, has been my very favorite yet. He changes so much from day to day, and is accomplishing all these things that I had no clue would come so quickly. In the past two weeks, Dane has started sitting up on his own (and very well, by the way), scooting across the room, getting into everything low to the ground and eating all kinds of solid foods. If he sees something he wants, he will find a way to get to it by rolling, army crawling or scooting closer to it. Things he loves: anything mom and dad are drinking, remote controls, cell phones, computers (any technology really), his toys, picture frames & food (he loves blueberry puffs the best).
D looks more and more like a little boy rather than a baby and is super independent. He smiles at everyone, is still drooling like crazy and we’re still waiting on a tooth to pop through. Earlier in the week I packed up all of his clothes smaller than a 6 month size… which was so sad because I love so many of the items in that box! We’re also officially in size 3 diapers and made the switch to cruisers because he’s on the move so often. He is extremely inquisitive and always watching what we’re doing. He loves to peek over the edge of the couch or bed to see what’s going on below and lights up when he sees the kitty.
Stats: 88th percentile for height, 37th for weight, 16 lbs and 27.5 inches long
Favorite toys: His tiger, plastic keys, bath toys that shoot water everywhere, mirrors and Sophie the giraffe.
Favorite foods: EVERYTHING! We’ve tried carrots, peas, squash, kale, spinach, avocado, turkey + rice, chicken + rice, apples, peaches, pears, plums, blueberries, raspberries, bananas, mangos and lots more!
Mom’s favorites: The way he opens his mouth when I come in to give him a kiss, when he snuggles into my neck in the morning or after he wakes from a nap, the way he smiles at us even when he’s crying or sad. Lastly, how can I not mention his wild hair?!
Tomorrow I start my new job – and I know it will be a learning curve for me to juggle going back to work full-time + a commute and family life, so wish me luck! I know it’s the best decision for our family right now, and am beyond excited about the opportunity! I hope you all had a great long weekend – cheers!
