I guess flu season is here…

Happy National Coffee Day, friends! I enjoyed a Venti 7 pump, non-fat, extra hot, chai tea latte from Starbucks this morning because I’m #basic. (Honestly, I can’t believe that is really my Starbucks order, so long, so ridiculous, but it’s my drink, so whatever.)  It’s been kind of a crazy week in the Herdy house… Casey and I have both somehow caught the flu bug and have been pretty miserable. Dane has some kind of bug as well – not sure if it’s what we’ve got, but he’s definitely off. The kid amazes me though – it’s like he has split personalities, one second he’s laughing and chasing after the cat and the next, he’s screaming bloody murder and refusing to be put down. I. Just. Don’t. Get. It. Adulting is so hard when you’re sick and I’m thankful to say this was only a 24-ish hour ailment, because mama needs to be on her game with our boy who is on the go CONSTANTLY. I read the other day that most babies pull themselves up to a standing position between 9-12 months. Dane isn’t even 7 months old yet, and literally pulled himself up and climbed onto a shelf yesterday. I knew he would be a wild child, but this is ridiculous. On the other hand – it’s been really fun watching him learn and explore. He has no fear and its full speed ahead on whatever surface he comes across. He particularly likes our closet (which is ahem… a bit messy. Mom’s shoes? Yes! Perfect chew toy!)

In other news – I’m SO excited because the weather is finally cooperating enough so that our landscaping can go in around our house. Living there for 1.5 years with no trees, flowers, bushes or plants or anything has been driving us both crazy! These guys are amazing, they just started this morning and look at what they’ve accomplished already! If you’re in Lake Country – I highly recommend Breezy Hill Nursery. Apparently one of them stepped into an underground wasp nest – did you know those even existed? Umm, no thanks. Luckily nobody was hurt or stung too badly and also – I’m thankful Dane didn’t happen to find it.

I’m really looking forward to a quiet weekend (quiet is misleading – it’s going to be full of activities, but not as wild as the past few weekends.) Friday night is going to be a full night of baby-proofing. Like I said before, Dane sort of surprised us with his crawling and pulling up antics so we’re a little unprepared. Any must-have suggestions? I know the basics, but if there is anything you absolutely couldn’t live without, give me a shout in the comments!

Also, on Saturday, we get to find out if Dane will have a boy or girl cousin, and the anticipation is killing me. I am so excited either way that they will only be about 10 months apart and get to grow up together! My bet is on boy because that has been the trend lately, but who knows because recently a lot of people I know have been finding out they’re having girls – we’ll see!! 🙂 I hope you all have something fun planned this weekend – I know I’m excited for a few days of downtime.

Well, off to bed… yes at 7:45… baby is sleeping, so we may as well too. Time to kick this bug! xo
