Weekend Update: A Really Good Day

Hey there, happy Monday! I hope you all had a great weekend – mine went way too fast but it was really well spent. Saturday consisted of a trade show promoting our company with a few work friends. Even though working on a Saturday isn’t typically my jam – thimg_0460e trade show we attended was called Woman Up and was pretty damn inspirational. Many of the vendors were women entrepreneurs selling the shit out of their products and expertise. There were TONS of awesome local restaurants and companies (even a distillery, holla!!) so the taste-testing was on point. We made some really great connections and potential partnerships PLUS it was inspiring to me to see how badass it is to be a boss lady. Saturday night was filled with snuggles, Chinese food and some red wine – just my kind of night!

Yesterday my parents came to visit, which was so special. For those who’ve been following along with my dad’s story (here & here) – he hasn’t been able to hit to road too much, so we’ve loved having him at our house the past two weekends for visits. It’s so fun to watch Dane with my parents as we create so many great memories.

Just a quick update – he’s doing incredible. Every day is another step forward and in the right direction. We’ve all learned a lot about patience, positivity and hope through this journey and will continue to have challenges and hard days ahead but overall – tons of happy things happening over here. Thanks to everyone who’s reached out, said prayers or wished us well, it means the world.

Yesterday was one of those perfect days – when all the planets seem to align and everything happens just-so. The weather allowed us to crack the windows open and fill our lungs with MUCH NEEDED fresh, clean air. It was glorious and has me craving the start of Spring a little earlier than normal this year. Dane is coming off a two week sickness bender – one that included lots of coughs, boogie wipes and unhappy days. It felt good to have our happy little boy back yesterday, full of smiles and giggles. It’s days like yesterday that make being a parent really feel good. There is something so amazing about watching my parents as grandparents, and all of the feels as we all watch our little tornado run through the house squealing with joy as he bounces from toy to ball to book to stuffed animal. We made good food (recipe coming this week), had some drinks and really soaked up the bright, warm sunshine that filled our home. After my parents had headed home, and while Dane was down for his afternoon nap, Casey turned to me and said, “When we have rough days, and feel down about stuff… we have to remember days like this, because it really makes all the difference.”

We watched the Grammys and headed to bed with fully bellies and happy hearts. There is a TON coming up, including Dane’s first birthday (HOW?), a trip to Mexico – sort of a last minute surprise from Casey, but one that is needed and I know will be incredible, a trip to Denver for my cousin’s wedding + Dane’s first flight! Mix that in with work events, Casey’s birthday and one of the best times of the year. Bring it on Spring – I’m ready for you!
