Mother’s Day Weekend Update

Wow – it’s been a few weeks since I’ve posted, time is really cruising along! I’ve been busy with family, work and just life in general – so not a dull moment to say the least.

It’s hard to believe that next week we’ll be heading to Denver for my cousin’s wedding (and it’s Dane’s first flight!). Any tips on that? He’s not really into tv shows or anything online yet, so I’m hoping books can keep him occupied. I may download some episodes of Mickey or Paw Patrol in case though. We’re going super early in the morning, and I’m honestly hoping he’ll just zonk out but nothing ever runs smoothly around here, so we’ll see – fingers crossed! We’re staying in Parker, CO at an AirBNB – it’s this beautiful home with a view of the mountains AND it sleeps our whole family plus my aunt, uncle and cousin. We’re truly excited for a family vacation with all of us, especially the fact that my dad is feeling well enough to come with us. To be honest, I really didn’t know if it would be an option for him given all he’s been though – but his doctors are on board and think a family vacation is a great idea. It’s been a pretty rocky road as many of you know – so we’re feeling fortunate that he’s up to it.

I know I was going to put together a packing list for Mexico, but that never happened. Maybe I’ll get myself organized to do so for this vacation! I know it’s going to be mid 70’s to mid 80’s the whole time we’re there – which makes me excited for shorts and summer clothes! I’ve been to Denver for work before, but never for play – any suggestions?! We’re hoping to get in a little hiking and a little drinking. 😉

Last weekend was amazing. It was one of those weekends that you etch into your mind and think about for a long time. It wasn’t my first Mother’s Day as a mom, but it was sure happy and filled with love. We split the weekend up between families, so we were able to celebrate, spend time in the sun and enjoy each other’s company all together.

Dane loved playing outside for hours on end and got his first real taste of running shoe-less in the grass, which he loved. He also loved playing in the dirt, eating rocks and causing lots of mischief (of course).

He is turning into quite the little adventurer – always on the run, climbing all over everything and on the verge of talking. He’s getting really good at doing some signs with us – specifically “more” – which is super helpful in telling us what he wants and the communication is huge. I have a feeling that any day now he’ll start really talking to us – he’s so close and we practice a lot with him (colors, letters, body parts, animals – all of it!). I love our smart little boy so much!

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend, and you’re enjoying the beautiful Spring weather if you’re local to WI! We got crazy storms last night and it’s currently almost 80 outside so I’m anxious to see what the plants and flowers will do over the next few days.

Have a fantastic week! I’ve got a really good one-pan salmon recipe that I’m going to post later (probably Thursday) so watch out for that! xo
