Dane’s 18 Month Update

Happy Friday!

It’s been a quick week over here – and I’m thankful for our quiet weekend coming up. The house could use a good cleaning, and I’m still not completely unpacked from Fargo, oops! I’ve got some really fun stuff in the works that I’ll tell you more about when it’s finalized but I’m feeling energized and excited for the future! I’m also really thankful for all the blog post ideas I got after I wrote about being in such a inspiration rut a couple weeks back. Feeling very happy today, that my list is long and the inspiration has returned!

Dane turned 18 months old on Monday – and I wanted to do a really quick recap of how he’s doing and what’s been going on around here. First of all – this is by far my favorite stage (I think I’ve said that before ;)) but it is! Dane is smart, silly and showing us SO much personality these days. He’s stringing words into almost full sentences, knows exactly what he wants, and is such a sweet little boy.

He has had a few full blown tantrums, usually because he wants a popsicle for breakfast and that’s a hard no (except at papa and grandma’s.) He’s a good sleeper for the most part, but there have been a few nights where he’s up around 1am and I don’t know if it’s a nightmare, or the dreaded 18 month sleep regression I’ve read so much about.

We think we might have a little lefty – as he has mastered using his spoon and usually favors his left hand when he throws.

We had his 18 month wellness check and all is well. I was dreading an ear infection because it seems like every time we head to the doc, he has one… but we’re all clear! He’s pretty average when it comes to height and weight and passed his eye screen and developmentally he’s doing fantastic.

Current loves:

  • Moana (still) and we’re trying to get him to love other movies too but they have to have great, upbeat music – any suggestions? Aladdin and Hercules seem to work well
  • His friends : Bunny, Thundar (Dadoon), and anything soft that we can tickle him with
  • Boo Boo’s aka berries of all varieties
  • Endless book reading
  • Facetiming with Uncle Hank
  • Giving knucks to everyone
  • Sidewalk chalk
  • Crashing his sweet van from Papa
  • Riding on the mower with dad
  • Talking about his grandparents, aunts and uncles and everyone that loves him

He’s a total sweetie and we love him so much. I can’t believe time is flying by the way it is.

One last note:

I just have to quickly mention this because I was overcome with sadness while watching the news this morning. I am absolutely devastated for all of the people who have been displaced or affected by the horrific events happening lately. Between the hurricanes, the earthquake in Mexico and the horrible fires burning in the Northeast, my heart is breaking. Seeing the devastation to those islands that I love so much is just so hard to watch. I’m praying hard for all of the people who are living it first hand and hope they can all find refuge and stay strong.

Have a great weekend. Hug your loved ones, and give thanks for everything you have. xo
